OUR COMMUNITY

Without the strong support of the local community Ocean Blue Pearls would not have enjoyed the success that it has to date. Most of the farm employees live in the local village and many have been working for the business since its foundation.

 

A symbiotic relationship exists between pearls and local community. For the oysters to thrive they have to be cared for by a passionate and dedicated workforce. During their four-year lifecycle it's of paramount importance that the oysters are handled delicately both in and out of the water.  Keeping the shells of these sensitive filter-feeders clean of weed and other marine fouling is a top priority.

 

Ocean Blue Pearls in turn supports the local community, not only through long-term employment, but also in the funding of social projects and village programs.
